Richard Chavira

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Chavira, who passed away on September 15, 2026, in Devine, Tx. He was born on July 29, 1959, in Hondo, Tx, to Juan Chavira and Ramona Chavira.

Richard was a hardworking man who spent his years working as a carpenter. He took great pride in his work and, above all, in providing for and caring for his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather whose family meant everything to him.

Richard married his wife, Madelena Chavira, in 1990, and together they shared 36 years of marriage. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved the beauty and peacefulness of the Texas Hill Country. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love for his family, and the many memories he leaves behind.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Aguilar Chavira, and brother, John Chavira.

He is survived by his loving wife, Madelena Chavira; daughter, Nicole Del Rio (Julio); sons, Jesse Chavira and Rick Chavira Jr. (Bonnie); siblings, Yolanda Aguinaga, Ernesto Chavira (Bernie), Victoria Valdez (Edward), Joey Chavira (Amanda), James Chavira (Margie), and Elizabeth Cantu (Gunner).

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaiya, Kailyn, Jennifer, Isiah, Jeremiah, Rihanna, and Aaliyah as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Natalia Memorial Funeral Home, 2048 Highway 132 North, Natalia, Tx 78059. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Devine, Tx.
