Juanita Gonzales

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Juanita Gonzales, age 85, who passed away on September 5, 2026, in College Station, Tx. Juanita was born on June 27, 1941, in Leming, Tx, and made her home in Jewett, Tx.

Juanita was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. More than a mother to her children, she was their best friend. She was a truly selfless woman who consistently put the needs of others before her own and would go out of her way to do anything she could for those she loved.

Juanita never met a stranger. Her warm and welcoming personality had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, and she was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family was the center of her world, and she showed her love through the countless things she did for them throughout her life.

Juanita enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, gardening, and cooking. She dearly loved her dog, Peanut, who held a special place in her heart. Her family will always smile remembering how she would tell grand-daughter JoJo to buy her French fries and then act as though she had never asked for them. It was those little moments, filled with Juanita's personality and humor, that made time spent with her so special.

The holidays brought Juanita tremendous joy. She loved decorating for every holiday, but Halloween was her favorite. Each Halloween, she took the time to prepare individual candy bags to hand out to the children. During the holidays, Juanita also made each of her five children their own favorite dessert, making sure there was something special just for them. These thoughtful traditions reflected who Juanita was—a giving, caring, and selfless woman who found happiness in making others happy.

Juanita is survived by her children, Eddie Gonzales (Paula), Tony Gonzales, Juanita Spencer (Jeff), Trina Enyart (Rickey), and Mary Vaughn; her sister, San Juanita Sosa (Raul); and her grandchildren, Colan Gonzales (Nichole), Stacey Smith (Zac), Brandon Enyart (Stacey), and Joanna Enyart. She is also survived by her special niece, Cynthia Valdez, whom Juanita loved and cherished as a daughter.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Keston Lane, Levi Gonzales, Brody Gonzales, Blake Gonzales, Everly Gonzales, Aubrey Salazar, Angel Cortez, Haustyn Enyart, Daxtyn Enyart, and Kezzy Enyart, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Inez Hernandez; her beloved husband, Ed Gonzales; her sisters, Frances Morin, Carmen Moreno, and Emilia Valdez; her brother, Rafael Hernandez and his wife Librada; her brothers-in-law, Felix Valdez and Lupe Morin; and her grandson, Rickey Enyart Jr.

There will truly never be another mother, grandmother, and friend quite like Juanita. Her selfless heart, generosity, humor, and unconditional love will be deeply missed. Although her family will feel her absence every day, the love she gave so freely, the traditions she created, and the memories she leaves behind will remain in their hearts for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 170 Hackberry St., Leming, Texas 78050. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Luke Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Gonzales, Tony Gonzales, Rickey Enyart, Jeff Grayson, Colan Gonzales, Levi Gonzales, and Brody Gonzales.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keston Lane, Angel Cortez, Blake Gonzales, and Zac Smith.
